What Are Veneers?

Veneers are thin, custom-made shells made from tooth-colored materials such as ceramic or porcelain. They are designed to cover the front side of your teeth.

The Veneer Process

To prepare for veneers, your doctor will scan your teeth in their current state using a state-of-the-art intraoral scanner. The doctor will then conservatively prepare your tooth/teeth in order to achieve a perfect fit for the veneers and scan your teeth once more. Depending on the type of veneer restoration, the scans will be input into either CEREC's planning software or PlanMeca's digital smile design software, where the doctor will design your new smile. Your veneers will be milled right in the office in either the CEREC mill or the PlanMill 50S, using e.max or zirconia, both types of ceramic favored in dentistry for their strength and durability.

When your veneers are placed, you’ll be pleased to see that they look like your natural teeth. While veneers are stain-resistant, your doctor may recommend that you avoid coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco to maintain the beauty of your new smile.
